Terms of Use for Bowtie Live Chat


Bowtie Live Chat is a facility made available by Bowtie Life Insurance Company Limited ("Bowtie") on the Bowtie website for servicing customers through online messages. These Terms of Use ("Terms") set forth the terms and conditions for your access to and use of Bowtie Live Chat. The Terms here apply in addition to the general terms and conditions contained in the "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy" on this site.

Before using the Bowtie Live Chat, please review all Terms carefully. Starting to use Bowtie Live Chat confirms your acceptance of and agreement with the Terms and those contained in the "Terms of Use" and "Privacy Policy". Please review them regularly, as they are subject to change.

The Use of Bowtie Live Chat

Bowtie Live Chat facilitates Bowtie’s representatives to interact with Bowtie clients and other individuals (collectively, referred as "You"), who are the residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("Hong Kong") through the live chat windows on Bowtie website www.bowtie.com.hk ("Bowtie Website"). Bowtie Live Chat is intended to help and support you while you are visiting Bowtie Website.

The information provided through Bowtie Live Chat is general information and for reference only. Such information is not binding and does not constitute any offer, solicitation, recommendation, comment or any guarantee to the purchase or sale of any insurance product or service offered by Bowtie. Bowtie will not accept any application for insurance policies, conduct any transactions in relation to insurance policies issued by Bowtie, or respond to any enquiries or requests related to specific insurance policies.

You must only use Bowtie Live Chat for the purposes as described in these Terms. You must not use or attempt to use Bowtie Live Chat to:

  • Adversely affect the operations and reputation of Bowtie;
  • Interfere or damage the Bowtie Live Chat data and all the associated systems;
  • Perform any unauthorized or unlawlful activities; or
  • Cause annoyance or inconvenience to Bowtie, Bowtie’s staff or other users of Bowtie Website or Bowtie Live Chat.

You acknowledge that Bowtie can terminate your use of Bowtie Live chat if Bowtie reasonably believes that you have breaches these Terms.

Privacy

For certain general enquiries regarding designated account, transaction and application over Bowtie Live Chat, Bowtie may need to ask you to provide partial personal information for verification purposes only. For general enquiries not specific to account, transaction or application, Bowtie will never ask you for and you agree not to provide confidential information or security details.

Bowtie will not disclose or ask you to disclose any sensitive and account information in full form while Bowtie interact with you through Bowtie Live Chat. If it is necessary for you to disclose more detailed personal or account information to enable Bowtie to service your query, Bowtie may contact you via other means.

You should avoid disclosing any personal or account information unless making certain general inquiries specific about designated account, transaction or application and being asked to provide partial information for verification purpose.

When you provide your personal information to Bowtie, Bowtie will collect, use, store and disclose your information in accordance with Bowtie’s Privacy Policy and Bowtie Website Terms of Use.

To ensure the quality of the service, the content of each chat may be monitored and recorded, and the data, including your personal data, may be processed and stored by Bowtie and authorized third parties in accordance with Bowtie’s record retention schedule. You acknowledge that Bowtie and authorized third parties have the right to review and analyze such data.

Servicing and Operations

Bowtie does not charge any fees or charges for using Bowtie Live Chat. Bowtie Live Chat will be usually available during the business hours of the Bowtie Customer Service Center which is published on the Bowtie website. Bowtie reserves the right to suspend Bowtie Live Chat at any time without notice (for reasons including without limitations the elimination of security risk and emergency maintenance work) or with advance notice published on the Bowtie website (for reasons such as routine maintenance work). Bowtie will not be liable for any loss arising from any such suspension.

Bowtie reserves the right to amend the mode of operation, the method of delivery, or change, suspend or end Bowtie Live Chat. Such changes may be made without any notice or liability.

Limited Liabilities

All services, products and offers mentioned in the information provided through Bowtie Live Chat are subject to the respective terms and conditions. Bowtie is not liable in any way for any reliance by you or any other person on any commentaries, information or other data supplied through Bowtie Live Chat.

We make no representation that information and materials communicated via Bowtie Live Chat are appropriate or applicable outside Hong Kong.

Your use of the Bowtie Live Chat shall be entirely at your risk. Bowtie will not be responsible in any manner for any harm, loss or damage, however caused, arising out of your use of the Bowtie Live Chat, including direct, indirect, special, third party or consequential damages. We will not be responsible for any detrimental reliance that you may place upon the site or its contents.


The English version of these Terms shall prevail if there is a discrepancy between the English version and the Chinese version.
