How to Book Health Checks at HKU Shenzhen Hospital

Here’s how to book a health check at HKU Shenzhen Hospital:

  • WeChat public account booking
  • Phone booking
  • On-site booking

Important Booking Tips for HKU Shenzhen Hospital

Before booking your health check at HKU Shenzhen Hospital, keep these key points in mind:
  • To make booking easier, HKU Shenzhen Hospital offers services via WeChat public account, phone, and on-site—remember, it’s a real-name system.
If you’re using the WeChat public account, follow “HKU Shenzhen Hospital Internet Hospital,” go to “Smart Hospital,” enter your details, and then select “Health Check Services” under “Personal Booking” to schedule your check.
  • For phone booking, call the HKU Shenzhen Hospital appointment line at 0755-8691 3333; bookings are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Sunday.
  • If you prefer on-site booking, head to the health check center’s payment counter (but note that same-day slots aren’t guaranteed).
  • If you can’t make your confirmed appointment, cancel it by 4 p.m. the day before or reschedule via the original method; otherwise, it’ll count as a no-show, and after three no-shows, you won’t be able to book again.

Must-Knows Before Your Health Check at HKU Shenzhen Hospital

Before your health check, here’s what you should keep in mind:
  • On the day of your appointment, bring valid ID (like your ID card, social security card, or passport) and arrive 10 minutes early at the health check center for registration; if you’re late due to personal reasons, your check might be delayed.
  • The check process takes about 3 hours, so follow the on-site staff instructions. If you add extra items, it could take longer—plan accordingly!
  • For accurate test results, eat light for 3 days before, skip intense exercise or heavy drinking, and avoid foods like pig liver or pig blood that might affect stool occult blood tests. Blood tests and ultrasounds require at least 6 hours of fasting, while the H. pylori breath test needs 2 hours without food or drink (and ensure you haven’t taken antibiotics or stomach meds in the last month). If your appointment is in the afternoon, you can have a light meal 6 hours prior.
  • Medication notes: If you have chronic conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, or asthma, keep taking your meds as usual—don’t stop on the day (but if your blood pressure reads 160mmHg systolic or 100mmHg diastolic or higher during the check, it might need to pause until it’s stable). For diabetes, skip your morning meds, complete blood draws and fasting checks first, then take them after a meal.
  • Pelvic ultrasound checks organs like the bladder, prostate, or uterus and requires a full bladder, so drink a few cups of water beforehand. Women with sexual experience who struggle with holding urine can opt for a transvaginal ultrasound for better internal views.
  • No gynecological exams for women without sexual experience. Also, avoid them during your period or urine tests—wait at least 3 days after it ends. And steer clear of sexual activity for 3 days before a gyno exam.
  • On the day, change into provided clothes at the center; ladies, remove undergarments to avoid interfering with X-rays, and pregnant women should skip X-rays altogether. Plus, pregnant or breastfeeding women shouldn’t have mammograms.
  • If you’ve had a fever in the last 3 days, reschedule your appointment.
  • If not all items are completed on the day, return within 10 working days to finish up (no extra appointment needed during office hours; reports will be ready about 25 days after all items are done). If you don’t complete them in that time, it’s considered forfeited (except for CT, MRI, or H. pylori tests), and no refunds will be given.
  • Some items like mammograms, bone density scans (DEXA), body composition analysis, CT, or MRI use large equipment and will be scheduled at the hospital’s radiology department— they won’t align with your package on the same day, so book on-site.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes and shoes on the day, and leave valuables and jewelry at home to avoid any mishaps.
  • Keep things quiet on-site—no loud conversations, please.
  • All imaging at the center doesn’t include film prints; if you need them, head to the imaging department counter (at your own cost).
  • Reports are ready 25 days after completing all items (with extensions for public holidays; we’re going green, so they’re all digital). You can scan a QR code, log in via a link, or download and print through the “HKU Shenzhen Hospital Internet Hospital” WeChat account.
  • Within 3 months of your check, you get one free post-check consultation; after that, book a general or chronic disease clinic (with a fee). If you need it, schedule “Post-Check Consultation” once you have your report.

Can VHIS Cover the Above Medical Examination Costs?
