How to Book General Outpatient Clinics? Is Booking Difficult?

The Hospital Authority’s general outpatient clinics offer general outpatient services for the general public, including civil servants and eligible individuals. There are mainly two booking methods:

Phone Booking: You need to call the general outpatient clinic’s booking hotline
Mobile App Booking: Use the Hospital Authority’s mobile app called HA Go to book appointments for yourself or others within the next 24 hours

Phone booking often fails due to busy lines or fully booked slots, while HA Go offers real-time availability and a user-friendly interface, making it more successful. So, if you want a smoother experience, we recommend giving HA Go a try first – it’s like having a helpful assistant in your pocket!

Seniors aged 65 or above can benefit from the “Elderly Priority Booking,” ensuring they get timely medical care without the hassle.

Who Can Book General Outpatient Clinics?

The services are aimed at individuals with stable chronic conditions (like diabetes or hypertension) and those with milder occasional illnesses (such as colds or gastroenteritis).

Public Clinics

Booking methods for public clinic slots include:

In-Person Registration:
- Morning session: 8:45 AM to 9:30 AM
- Afternoon session: 1:45 PM to 2:30 PM
HA Go Mobile App
(except for some remote area clinics):
- Morning session: 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM
- Afternoon session: 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Civil Servants and Eligible Individuals

Civil servants and eligible individuals seeking care at general outpatient clinics must meet the following conditions to receive free treatment services:

Present valid identification documents and have your identity verified through the eligibility system;
Or present valid General Form No. 181 or Treasury Form No. 447

As long as quotas are available, eligible individuals can enjoy free medical services.

Key Notes

After 9:30 AM or 2:30 PM, any undistributed civil servant slots will be allocated to the public.
If civil servants arrive after this time and slots haven’t exceeded the quota, they can still be treated.
The number of civil servant slots varies per clinic and may adjust based on daily circumstances. Civil servants can call the clinic or check the slot availability table for details.

Emergencies

In case of emergencies, civil servants and eligible individuals can directly approach the nursing officer, who will arrange earlier treatment or care based on the condition.

What Time Does the General Outpatient Clinic Distribute Tickets? Can I Walk In?

The telephone appointment system and HA Go for booking general outpatient services both operate 24 hours a day, instantly updating future appointment slots, including those canceled by patients. The system automatically releases any openings, allowing other patients to book as soon as possible.

As for walk-in visits (showing up without an appointment), it’s possible but not recommended. Walk-in patients might face long waits and could be turned away during peak times or if slots are full. To ensure you get seen on time, it’s best to book ahead.

All patients, including those with chronic conditions or occasional illnesses, must bring their identification documents to the clinic for registration. If you can’t make your appointment, cancel as early as possible (at least one hour before the scheduled time) to free up the slot for someone else who needs it.
