4 factors that can affect the assessments price

Assessment Procedure

The choice between conducting a cardiac assessment at a clinic or day surgery versus as an inpatient can impact the fees.

Referral Discounts

Some private healthcare institutions offer discounts on cardiac assessments to patients who have referral letters from public hospitals.

Subsidies

Several charitable organizations collaborate with private healthcare institutions to offer subsidies for eligible patients in need of cardiac assessments, including programs like the ‘Cardiac Patients Subsidy Scheme‘ and ‘Heart-Warming Action‘.

Hospital

The qualifications of doctors, the level of advancement in surgical facilities, and the comfort of the environment can all affect the fees charged by each hospital or healthcare institution.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How often should cardiac assessments be conducted?

Generally, simple cardiac screenings can begin at the age of 20, followed by check-ups every 2 to 4 years.

For individuals at high risk of heart disease, it is recommended to undergo more comprehensive assessments such as exercise electrocardiograms and cardiac CT scans starting around the age of 40.

However, the frequency of cardiac assessments varies depending on each individual’s specific cardiovascular health risks. It is advisable to consult with a doctor to determine the most suitable assessment frequency for you.

How long is the waiting time for government-provided cardiac assessments?
Between July 2021 and June 2022, the waiting time for stable new cases in the outpatient departments of public hospitals (varies depending on the regional cluster) ranged from 36 weeks to 72 weeks. This means that patients in need of cardiac assessments may have to wait for at least six months to approximately one and a half years.
